Dermal Fillers, What Can They Be Used For?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels frequently used to smooth away facial lines, wrinkles and enhance facial features such as the cheeks, chin or lips and are administered by registered aesthetic practitioners.

Within the UK an aesthetic practitioner can be defined as a Plastic Surgeon, Cosmetic Doctor, GP, Dermatologist, Cosmetic Dentist or Aesthetic Nurse Practitioner.

Teoxane have created a more resilient hyaluronic acid gel that preserves the purity and length of HA chains. TEOSYAL® RHA® is the first dermal filler specifically designed with high strength and high stretch properties developed with the objective of mimicking the natural HA in our skin.

The full TEOSYAL® range of products consists of unique dermal fillers with differing gel densities and unique properties making each one specific to treating different areas of the face and achieve different results, from prevention of fine lines and/or wrinkles to remodeling the contour of the face.

Here at Bournville Village Dentist, we will be able to advise which Teoxane product is suitable for your individual treatment needs and ensure the outcome is what you are looking for. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers like Teoxane are now seen as one of the most common treatments in correcting wrinkles, folds and loss of facial volume associated with skin ageing and external factors such as sun exposure and diet.

The Dynamics

The TEOSYAL RHA® products were created by TEOXANE Laboratories according to a patented process, making it possible to meet the specific requirements of mobile facial areas. This technology preserves the natural characteristics of the hyaluronic acid molecules to obtain gels with high purity, close to the natural content of hyaluronic acid in the skin.

Thanks to their dedicated expertise in designing and manufacturing dermal fillers, the TEOSYAL® dermal filler line is an effective, safe way to replace your skin’s lost hyaluronic acid, bringing back its volume and smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds. The most recent line of TEOSYAL® dermal fillers has been developed using a new formulation of hyaluronic acid: RHA resilient hyaluronic acid®.

TEOSYAL RHA® dermal fillers differ from traditional hyaluronic fillers as they are able to recoil and spring back to their original shape (what we call resilience) after being altered, stretched, bent or compressed. Resilience is an important quality for fillers placed in dynamic areas of the face such as the cheeks, around the eyes, and around the mouth. This resilience not only provides a more natural result as your face moves, the hyaluronic acid also takes longer to degrade, providing long lasting results.

Before your injection, it is strongly recommended to avoid taking aspirin, anti-coagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs for a week prior to the procedure. It is advised not to use make-up during the 12 hours following your injection and to avoid extreme temperatures (intense cold, sauna, etc.) during the week following treatment. After the injection, you should avoid drinking alcohol, taking a plane or doing any kind of sports for a period of 72 hours post-injection. Also, following your treatment, it is highly advisable to avoid dental treatments, aesthetic procedures of any type, sun exposure and extreme temperatures (icy weather, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, etc.).

The effects of HA fillers last various lengths of time, depending on the type of the filler and the area where it is administered. However, as HA is eventually broken down and is absorbed by the body, the effects are not permanent. To achieve long-lasting results, injections should be repeated between 6 to 24 months.
